Unity in Community Public Event

For the second time, I volunteered to the be photographer for a public event in Santa Maria called "Unity in Community." As the photography, I had the fun part of racing before the crowd to get the best images. Thankfully, it wasn't rainy cats and dogs like last year.

Thanks, Tara and Board, for letting me be a part of something big in Santa Maria.

Prom Pics

It had been a busy and full day but when my friend, Alise, called to say her son and friends would like some quick prom pics, I couldn't resist. So off the Nipomo I ran. The three couples were dressed exquisitely and the setting of Alise's foresty yards were amazing.

Thanks, Alise, for thinking of how to save this special moment forever.

90th Birthday and Family Reunion

I was scheduled months in advance for a big family reunion to mark a 90th birthday party and family reunion. I knew Santa Maria families are large but hers was great;150 people at the SM Eagle Hall.

I checked out the location and lighting beforehand and I knew it would be challenging photographically with low light and low ceilings. With an assistant, special lens, plus lots of hotshoe and off-camera flashes, it would be good. Suzy set up a photo booth area and I brought all the gear.

The event was very well set up, decorated and coordinated. Suzy and her team had done a fabulous job. So, of course, she wanted lots of "detail" images to show off the hard work.

In image editing I created a new LR preset just for the older, dark complected face that I named "Princess." See if you can see why I call it that.

Thanks, Suzy and Vinne, for choosing me to capture this super special day for you.
