Engagement shoots are so much fun for me but it really makes a big difference when the subjects of the photos are having a blast also. David announced before we started their photo session that he takes dorky pictures. Well, dorky is not in my vocabulary. He and his lovely fiance', Tiana, were having such a blast as I moved them from place to place, posed, unposed, etc.
The love is clear to see between these two. I am honored to be the photographer for this special occasion of announcing to the world of their wedding engagement.

While in DR
I was traveling to Dominican Republic for a mission trip with a soon-to-be good friend, Lydia, when I mentioned I do speaker pics. "Really now? I am a speaker in an upcoming event and couldn't find a single image to send them," was her response. So we scheduled it.
With my favorite portrait lens in hand, we managed to squeeze in Lydia's first pro photography session while in DR. And was I surprised. Typically first-timers need help getting relaxed in front of the camera but Lydia needed no help whatsoever. She smiled and turned and laughed like a professional model, in spite of the heat and humidity of the Caribbean summer.

How Many Friends on Facebook?
Samantha Levy is an incredible, powerful woman of God. Her personal connection with over 5,000 people all over the world as caused Facebook to move her to "public figure" status. I have been her photographer for over 5 years now and there is never a boring moment with her.
This time our mutual event was a missions trip to Dominican Republic. I try to never miss an opportunity to update her speaker/FB images as a public figure. Every event coordinator asks for a suitable image for advertising purposes. As a former model, Samantha has no trouble looking good for the camera and I love to create what I consider to be iconic images of her.
The trouble is Facebook does a horrible job of giving a photography artist like myself appropriate credit. Their website is basically public domain. No matter how I try, the image gets quickly separated from its creator. 440 likes and 83 comments later, no one even knows I am the photographer. Frustrating. Good thing I trust my God to promote me.
Still, I love creating fabulous images of this woman.

Attention All Business Owners
Connecting with your customers online is super important these days yet very hard at the same time. Why hard? Well, the personal connection really starts face-to-face but we want it fast and easy because our lives are so very full. Plus, with all the media and technology continually throwing stuff at us, life is a bombardment of data and images.
So how do you distinguish yourself from the crowd? In person, first but secondly with images. Images of your face, your environment, what makes you different, your passions and personality.
No matter how advanced technology may get, we are still a visual/sensory people. Professional images is your second most important tool in presenting yourself to the world for business. Of course, your first most important tool with you, reality in person. Smile and make the most of it.
Below are a few images from Liliana's photo session that I recommended for your business website. She is a professional massage therapist in Cookeville, TN, as well as the co-owner of a coffee house. Super awesome woman indeed. Go, Liliana!
